Originally from Japan, Aikido is composed of weapons training or bare hands techniques using the force of the opponent or rather his/her aggressiveness and willingness to harm. These techniques are intended to reduce aggressive behaviour.
Aikido can be a very effective form of self-defense: an immediate and proportionate response to aggression.
In fact, in Aikido, one seeks to control his/her opponent without causing harm, by understanding his/her rhythm and intent, in order to find the optimal way to apply a counter-technique.
According to this logic, there is no competition in Aikido.
